Congratulations to Tyler Gaulton (Edge 2015) on his recent commitment to attend Limestone College! Tyler has been with the Edge program since 2013 and quickly proved that he can make the jump to the next level. "Tyler is an absolute animal on the field. He plays a physically intimidating game, making it very difficult for opposing team's top attackmen and midfield to play against him. This physical play combined with his high lacrosse IQ and strong athleticism will help Tyler become a premier defender in college lacrosse. Limestone got themselves one incredible defender" said Edge 2015 head coach Marc Burton. The 6'1, 190 pound defender began his lacrosse career with the Clarington Minor Lacrosse Association.  Gaulton is currently playing with Edge Lacrosse, Peterborough Lakers and Team Ontario U19.  We would like to wish Tyler the best of luck at Limestone both in the classroom and on the field!

We had a chance to catch up with Tyler

Where did you first begin playing lacrosse? Where are you currently enrolled/playing?

I began playing lacrosse with the Clarington Minor Lacrosse association. I am currently playing with Edge Elite, Peterborough Lakers and Team Ontario Mens U-19

Why did you choose to attend Limestone?

The school offered all of the academics I was looking for to prepare myself for a career after school as a teacher.

What are you looking forward to most at Limestone?

I really liked the personalized approach that Limestone has and the friendliness of all of the Professors. There is a lot of history with the school and they have a really good reputation.

What are your future ambitions beyond NCAA lax?

I would like to pursue playing Lacrosse at a professional level in both MLL and NLL if possible. I would also like to coach younger kids to pass on my experiences and passion for the game.

Can you provide some insight into your experience with EDGE, when did you join the program? How did you hear about the program?

I joined the program in 2013 I had previous experience participating in the All Canada games also. I had heard about the program through friends and fellow players I had played with on other teams

What advice do you have for any future EDGE players about the recruitment process?

I would highly recommend the program for the exposure and proven success the program has shown with past recruits. I would recommend they start a few years prior to their recruiting years.

Best/Favourite memory playing with EDGE?

Traveling to the tournaments and seeing all of the big schools in attendance. Being chosen to represent Edge in the Black card program.

Describe the type of lacrosse player you are, who did you look up to growing up? Who would you compare yourself to now?

I credit my hard work ethic and drive to my parents. They gave me every opportunity to succeed on and off the field. My strengths are speed, agility and physicality. I try to take a bit from every player I have watched over the years to help round out my game and enable me to play at the highest level every time I step on the field.

Feel free to include any shout-outs, special thanks

I would like to thank my Parents Corey & Julie Gaulton, I would also like to thank my Coach Marc Burton for the support and coaching. I would also like to thank the Edge program Stuart Brown and Alan Tsang for their support and advice thru the recruiting process. I would also like to send out a special thanks to all of my Team mates and friends I have gained thru my lacrosse experience to date.
