Congrats to Justin Inacio (Edge 2017 Prep) on his verbal commitment to THE Ohio State University.

Congratulations to Justin Inacio (Edge 2017 Prep) on his verbal commitment to the Ohio State University!

A member of the Oakville Hawks, Justin is best described as an extremely athletic, faceoff/midfielder. Justin is one of the best faceoff men in Ontario and is a key contributor to the Edge program, frequently dominating opposing US faceoff men. Justin was a member of the 2017 prep team this summer that enjoyed an extremely succesful summer season, winning division titles at the NSCLA National Cup and Philly Summer Invitational. Justin concludes his summer as a representative for Team Ontario Field at the Canadian Natonals in Edmonton, AB at the end of August. Justin will enter the 2014 school year at the Hill Academy where he will continue to develop and refine his skills under the mentorship and tutelage of Edge alum and faceoff midfielder, Jordan MacIntosh and the coaching staff including Brodie Merrill, Patrick Merrill, Jason Noble and Merrick Thomson.

In his time with Edge, Justin has been an outstanding representative and ambasador of the program. Justin has represented the program at some of the top showcase and recruiting events such as NSCLA Warrior Showcase, Maverick Showtime and numerous all star games at recruiting events.

Off the field, Justin excels in the classroom, with an academic average between 85-93%, Justin has been a 5X Edge All Academic Team member

We had a chance to chat with Justin about his experience and time with Edge.

Where did you first begin playing lacrosse? Where are you currently enrolled/playing?

JI - I started playing lacrosse when I was four years old. Although, I didn't start playing rep until I was eight. I just finished my minor career with Oakville Minor Lacrosse Association. I am also enrolled with Edge, Team Ontario Field and next year I will be attending The Hill Academy.

Why did you choose to attend Ohio State?

JI - I chose to attend Ohio State because it has been my number one choice ever since I was little. My first time visiting OSU, I absolutely fell in love with the school and I knew this was the school for me; the campus, school spirit, the facilities, and the location were a perfect fit for me. Also the men's lacrosse program is great, and the coaches are amazing. Most importantly, they have the academic programs that I am interested in.

What are you looking forward to most at Ohio State?

JI - This question is easy; winning an NCAA championship!

What are your future ambitions beyond NCAA lax

JI - I hope to graduate out of Ohio State and have a successful career; I am hoping to become an orthodontist. But within the lacrosse world, I want to help grow the game and give back to the programs which made me successful in life.

Can you provide some insight into your experience with EDGE, when did you join the program? How did you hear about the program?

JI - I joined Edge 5 years ago, mainly because some of my teammates were already involved in the program. Edge is an amazing program that, not only made me focus on lacrosse but also made me realize the importance of my academics in obtaining a scholarship. Through the Edge program I have developed a lot of great friendships within the lacrosse world.

What advice do you have for any future EDGE players about the recruitment process?

JI - My advice to future edge players is work hard; let that be on the lacrosse field, in the weight room, or in the classroom. No matter who you are, there is always someone better than you or working harder to be better than you; that should be your motivation.

Best/Favourite memory playing with EDGE?

JI - Winning NSCLA National Cup with the 2017 team this summer! Our team put in a lot of hard work and it is nice to have that work pay off.

Describe the type of lacrosse player you are, who did you look up to growing up? Who would you compare yourself to now?

JI - I am known mostly for my fast breaks the face offs and even though I am a face off man, I know I can do a lot more than just face off. I have proved to work hard on defence, set up plays, and also put the ball in the back of the net. I never really looked up to any player because I wanted to play my own unique style of game.

Any shout-outs, special thanks?

JI - I would like to thank all my friends, family, and coaches who helped me to get where I am today. Especially the coach who cut me from the peewee 3 team, it made me realize how much I loved the game and how hard I had to work in order to make my dreams come true. Overall I want to thank my parents for everything they have done for me over the years, without them I would have never been able to accomplish what I did.
