Edge Announcement - Luke Allen

Congratulations to Luke Allen (Edge 2015) on his recent commitment to attend the University of Indianapolis!  The Huntsvile, Ontario native joined the Edge program 1 year ago and has proven through his game that he is ready to play at the college level.  With his sheer speed and overall lacrosse IQ,  Allen can be a threat from anywhere on the field.   The 5'10, 150lbs attackman grew up playing his minor lacrosse for the Huntsville Hawks.  Allen is currently playing for the Huntsville Jr. C squad along with our Edge 2015 team.  We would like to wish Luke the best of luck down at the University of Indianapolis and have know doubt that he will be a key contributor to their program!

We had a chance to catch up with Luke

Where did you first begin playing lacrosse? Where are you currently enrolled/playing?

I first began playing lacrosse in Huntsville and I grew up playing minor box lacrosse there since I was 5. I am currently playing box for Huntsville Jr. C and I play field with EDGE 2015.

Why did you choose to attend the University of Indianapolis?

I chose to attend the University of Indianapolis because of its great campus and facilities. Out of all the schools I visited I liked UIndy the best and I could picture myself having a fun time there. Also, UIndy offers great business programs.

What are you looking forward to most at the University of Indianapolis??

I’m mostly looking forward to playing college lacrosse and just living the college life itself. I’m also looking forward to potentially interning with a company in the city of Indianapolis.

What are your future ambitions beyond NCAA lax?

My future ambitions beyond NCAA lax are to be very successful and make a good living. I want to have a big house and drive a nice car.

Can you provide some insight into your experience with EDGE, when did you join the program? How did you hear about the program?

I started playing EDGE in the fall of 2014 and have been in the program for one year. I heard about the program from my friend Tyler Conn who I have played box with.

What advice do you have for any future EDGE players about the recruitment process?

My advice would be to always play the best you can and play as if somebody is watching you. Also, another piece of advice would be to pursue all opportunities you have with schools, don’t rule out a school right away before you take a good look at it.

Best/Favourite memory playing with EDGE?

My favorite memory playing with EDGE would be the NSCLA tournament because of our team’s success and it was a really great tournament. Also, hanging out with my friends and teammates at the hotel and around Virginia.

Describe the type of lacrosse player you are, who did you look up to growing up? Who would you compare yourself to now?

I am a fast and skilled player. I rely on my hands and lacrosse IQ to be successful. When I was growing up I looked up to all the professional box players like Colin Doyle and Mark Steenhuis. Then when I started playing field I started looking up to guys like Paul Rabil, Kyle Harrison and good college players.

Feel free to include any shout-outs, special thanks

I would like to thank all my EDGE coaches, teammates and program coordinator Alan Tsang. I would also like to thank my friends and family and all my box coaches and teammates.

I would also like to give a shout-out to Meteo Nobile.
