EDGE 2020 – 2021 Academy Overview – VARSITY PROGRAM
We are looking forward to another successful year in the academy. We are eager to resume training and preparing you for the college recruiting period. Below is a summary of schedule, costs, and details for the 2020-2021 season. This year, we must be mindful with our health and safety measures, group sizes and guidelines and protocols to ensure the health and safety of our members and staff.
*NOTE* If you are a new academy member and interested in the program, please contact program director Alan Tsang (a.tsang@edgelacrosse.com), prior to registering to discuss your son's interest and fit in the program
2003 COACHING STAFF:
Head Coach – Aaron Moroney
Assistant Coach – Bill Begley
We are excited to welcome back Coach Aaron Moroney and Bill Begley to the staff for the 2003 team for the 2020-2021 season. Coach Aaron has been involved with this team for many years now and is excited to continue with the recruitment and development of the 2003 age group.
Season Overview
The next 12 months are the most critical in the recruiting process. This is what you have all been working towards. With open communication now permitted, college coaches can communicate with potential recruits. Due to the current global climate, coaches and recruiting will rely heavily on film, coaches’ recommendations and selective in-person evaluations. Club support is extremely important this year as we lend our expertise and experience to help each family navigate the recruiting process. The recruiting process is unique for every family and we encourage you to schedule a Zoom meeting with Stu and Bill this fall to discuss your son’s recruiting timeline and next steps.
What’s New in 2020 – 2021
We are excited to roll out some new and exciting new programming for our members. We are always looking for new and creative ways to give our members an edge.
Speed Training: We will be having a 2x World Champion Sprinter and former CFL pro working with our Varsity teams this fall. The goal is simple, get faster.
New practice plans and positional training: We will be introducing some new staff coming on board this year that will bring fresh new drills, positional training and development, team concepts and training to the table.
Guest Coaches: We will have frequent guest coaches, former alumni, pro players, National team players and NCAA/Pro coaches out to practice to help run and oversee practice and development.
Film: We will regularly film practice and training for the varsity team. We will use the film to review systems and send highlights to college coaches.
Themed Training: Through our contacts in the NCAA, we will host themed practices from our favourite schools and run a customized practice sent over from their coach! We’ll provide firsthand experience to the training, intensity and focus college practices are run.
Training Schedule
Our training schedule will remain the same as it has the previous two years for our 2003 and 2004 teams. All practices and training will take place centrally in Mississauga/GTA.

Fall Scrimmages
We are finalizing dates for the following local events
Fall Events
USA Travel
We are considering an extended trip from Nov 13-22 for our 2022 team. We will review and discuss all guidelines, protocols and restrictions with families and review again as a team before any final decisions are made.
January – February NCAA Scrimmages
We are looking into opportunities to travel to the US in early 2021 to scrimmage college teams. DI programs can host international games in the pre-season. We have previously arranged this with Cleveland State, Robert Morris, Yale and Bryant.
March Break Camp
We are exploring a US trip to IMG Academy to host our Varsity team for 5 days during March Break. This trip would be a training camp for our team to spend 5 days together training and preparing for the upcoming summer season.
Winter – Dec 1st – April 24
Tuesday: 8-10pm, every other week. Rather than have families travel in each week for 1 hour, we will be training every other week for 2 hours indoors. (Winter Break Dec 15 – January 15)
Saturday: 130-3pm Team Practice (Winter Break Dec 15 – January 15)
Spring – May 1st – June 5th
Teams will train 3 hours each week in preparation for summer recruiting events. Training will take place on weekends and possible weeknight, dependant on Junior and HS schedules.
