Edge Announcement - Annie Lloyd

Congratulations to Annie Lloyd (Edge U19) on her recent commitment to attend Bryant University!  Annie has been with the Edge program for just under a year now and has proven that she is ready for the NCAA.  The Orillia, Ontario native is a tenacious defender who has the ability to shut down big offensive threats while also transitioning the ball up field when needed.  "Annie uses her size, strength and game sense in the defensive end allowing her to be successful at shutting down top attackers.   Annie initiates the transition exceptionally well and can join the transition where necessary.  Annie will be a tremendous asset to Bryant’s defensive unit" - Barb Boyes.  We would like to wish Annie the best of luck at Bryant and have no doubt that she will be an impact player for them!

We had a chance to catch up with Annie.

Where did you first begin playing lacrosse? Where are you currently enrolled/playing?

I first started playing lacrosse when I was 10 years old playing rep for Orillia, Ontario. Since then I have played for the Orillia Lady Kings as well as Team Ontario, Edge U19 and Everest U17 and U19.  This past year I also played on my high school team, OD Park.

Why did you choose Bryant?

I chose Bryant because I thought it would be a school that I would have a great time at and excel at my athletics and academics. I loved the coach and the campus. Bryant was just a good fit for me in general.

What are you looking forward to most at Bryant?

I am looking forward to all of the new memories I am going to create and all of the people I am going to meet. The academics at Bryant were exactly what I was looking for in a university. Their lacrosse program is very good and can’t wait to play as a Bryant Bulldog.

When did you join Edge? Can you tell us about your experience in the program?

This was my first year playing with Edge and I had a really great time. I learned so much with Edge and all of the coaches were very supportive and encouraging while I was playing.  Barb and Jess were very helpful through the recruiting process.  (I don’t know if I could have gotten through all of this without their support)

Any future advice for Edge members (Maybe your experience)?

The advice I would give to future Edge members is that even when it’s stressful, don’t give up and keep working hard because it is definitely worth it in the end. Edge was a very good choice that I made and was very helpful towards my development as a player.

Favorite memory with Edge?

My favourite memory with Edge was the Mid-Atlantic Classic. We won 3 out of our 4 games and did very well. The competition was great and it was a lot of fun.

Any shoutouts, special thanks?

I would like to thank my Orillia coaches Terry Bullen, Pat Morris and Sarah Crowthers as well as my Team Ontario and Everest coaches Ashely Rutz, Sylvana Yee, Gena MacPherson, Jackie Noble, Jayme Beard and Hannah  Burnett.. I would also like to thank all of my friends and team mates for making my experience and amazing one. I would especially like to thank Jess Lee and Barb Boyes at Edge for all their help during the recruiting process. I would not be where I am today without all of these people.
