Congratulations to Quintin Hoch-Bullen on her verbal commitment to the University of Denver Women's Lacrosse program! Quintin, a product of the Orillia Minor Lacrosse Association will join a great program at DU, that currently features 3 other Canadians and Edge Alumni, Nicole Martindale (Brooklin, Oshawa Blue Knights), Rachael MacKinnon (Brooklin, Oshawa Blue Knights) and Kennedy Millburn (Whitby, Oshawa Blue Knights). Quintin, made a significant impact with the Edge lacrosse program in her first year, contributing on the field at fall events and generating interest and attention from a number of schools. Edge Coach, Barb Boyes had this to say about Quintin's play: “Quintin’s overall athleticism makes her a very difficult player to defend.  She plays with such great instinct adding an element of unpredictability to her game.  Along with her speed and competitiveness not only will she be an impact player but will be an exciting player to watch during her time with the Denver Pioneers.”

We had a chance to catch up with Quintin and her recruiting experience:

Where did you first begin playing lacrosse? Where are you currently enrolled/playing?
QHB -
I started playing boys box lacrosse in Orillia and then when I was 9 years old I switched to girls field lacrosse.  I currently play for the Orillia Lady Kings U19 team.

Why did you choose Denver?
QHB - I chose Denver University because their lacrosse program is very strong and competitive.  The campus is gorgeous and the city is awesome with the mountains in the background.  Academically Denver University has programs I am interested in and it ranked high academically too.  I fell in love with everything as soon as I got off the plane.

What are you looking forward to most at Denver?
QHB - I can't wait to play NCAA lacrosse and compete at the highest level in the country. Playing with and against the best lacrosse players in the world.  I look forward to making new friends from all over the States and the world, it will be a great experience.

Future ambitions and goals beyond NCAA Lax?
QHB - My future goals are to graduate from DU then possibly come back to Canada and take a Masters in Criminology.

When did you join Edge, can you tell us about your experience?
QHB - This was my first year of playing with the Edge.  I had a great experience in the program, our team was very successful and we had lots of fun.  The coaches are very supportive and knowledgeable.

Any future advice for Edge members?
QHB - My advice to future Edge members is to remember you are going to get as much out of the program as you put into it.  You need to work as hard as you can and put yourself out there, leave it all on the field.  When we were at tournaments you knew that there were tons of other really good teams and players that the College coaches were looking at so you have to make the most of your time on the field, play smart and play hard.

Favourite memory with Edge?
QHB - My favourite memory with the Edge is the Mid-Atlantic tournament.  We did really well and our team bonded over the weekend.

Who did you look up to growing up? Any lacrosse influences?
QHB - I looked up to my Dad because he has been my lacrosse coach for a long time and I wouldn't be where I am today without him.  He is very knowledgeable about lacrosse and a great coach, he loves the game.  He pushed me to work harder every game and practice, and to be the best I can be.

Any special shout-outs, thanks?
QHB - I'd love to give Barb Boyes a huge shoutout for helping me throughout my entire recruiting process and for always being there for me to answer all my questions and give me advice whenever I needed it.
