2018 Youth Winter Training

9 weeks of skill development and training

EDGE Lacrosse is pleased to offer a 9 week winter development program for players to train and develop in the off season!

The winter development sessions will provide participants 1 hour of on field training along with 1 hour of fitness and strength training by certified trainers. Participants can expect small group training in a fast paced environment in order to maximize reps and touches. Players will focus on training and developing a variety of basic and advanced lacrosse skills. All sessions will be led and instructed by EDGE coaches. EDGE Lacrosse coaches are former/current NCAA/NLL players who have the desire to give back and coach the next wave of Canadian players. Following the on field training, players will participate in 1 hour of speed and conditioning training with RPM Fitness. Certified trainers will focus on lacrosse specific training to improve speed, strength, explosiveness, agility, footwork, and conditioning, Over the 9 week program, players can and will see improvement and growth in all areas of their lacrosse skill and knowledge. 

On Field Sessions Will Focus On:

Stick Work (Cradling, Triple Threat Position, Ball Protection, One handed-cradle)
Passing (Proper Mechanics, Passing on the run, Passing Accuracy)
Shooting (Overhand, On the Run, Outside/Inside Shooting, Shooting Velocity/Accurary, Shooting Mechanics)
Dodging (Variations: Split, Face, Question Mark, Roll, Rocker)
Defense (Theory and Positioning, footwork, stick checks - Poke/Lift/Slap)
Goaltending (Theory and Positioning, Angles, Arc, Technique, Passing)

Off-Field Sessions Will Focus On:
- Speed and Conditioning
- Lower, Upper and Core Strength
- Explosiveness and Reaction Time
- Agility and Footwork
